Fields of Dawn is musical project raising funds for cancer charities. Formed in 2020 by Tim Darvell, this Reading based band has raised around £5000 for various cancer charities. 100% of all the profits from every release are donated to charities including The Love Hope Strength Foundation and Bowel Cancer UK.

Fields of Dawn release a new double a-sided single on July 17th. The original composition We Were Young featuring Kathleen Turner Overdrive and a cover version of The Alarm’s 1984 single, The Deceiver. 100% of all the profits raised from sales are being donated to the Love Hope Strength Cancer Foundation, co-founded by Mike Peters of The Alarm, who sadly died of cancer in April 2025.

The single is available to pre-order on 4 off 7” vinyl colours, black/red/yellow/blue. It is also available on CD. All can be pre-ordered using the form at the bottom of this page. The digital release will be available on all the normal platforms.

Fields of Dawn featuring Kathleen Turner Overdrive release “We Were Young”, an Anglo/Australian post-punk single that brings together two independent artists from Reading (UK) and Toowoomba(AUS). Rooted in the late 70s early 80s new wave era with some post-punk urgency thrown in, it’s a track driven by atmospheric energy, and dynamic intent. The song is a reflection on childhood, the honesty that children have, and how as adults we are still the same. There are times when we could and should live our lives basing our values on those childhood values we had.

Kathleen Turner Overdrive (KTO) is a femme-fronted, four-piece, melodic punk band with members Lizzard, Mark, Adzilla and Ollie based across Toowoomba and Brisbane, Australia. Building on their first 2 Eps, ‘Autosomal’ & ‘Ctrl Alt Delete' released in 2022 and 2023, and gaining over 100 000 streams on Spotify (no pay for plays), their first album, ‘A Safe Space for Cryptids’ was released in August 2025.

Fields of Dawn’s cover version of The Deceiver by The Alarm, originally released in 1984 stays closer to original post-punk folk feel of The Alarm’s track. Recorded in tribute to, and dedicated to the memory of Mike Peters of The Alarm, who died in April, 2025 after living with blood cancer for 30 years.
